3rd Annual Witches & Warlocks Paddle

The best way to cap off spooky season is to grab your broom (paddle)!

The sunrise may have arrived with a chill in the air, but that didn’t stop more than 40 paddlers from hitting the water for our annual Witches & Warlocks Halloween Paddle at Killarney Lake on Halloween Saturday.

As the sun rose, participants arrived in in their spooky best with kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards decorated as though they'd risen straight from the crypt. From witches and warlocks to a lone Spiderman, the flotilla made for a festive start to the day.

Despite the cool temperatures, paddlers embraced the Halloween spirit and enjoyed a morning filled with laughter, community, and seasonal fun. We welcomed back the wonderful Roo.B Rocks who shared with us a new crop of adorable painted witch & warlock rocks for all participants. The event continues to be a favorite tradition, bringing together outdoor enthusiasts of all ages for a unique celebration of the season.

This year’s paddle also supported a great cause. Through donations and fundraising efforts, participants helped raise money and collect much-needed items for the Fredericton SPCA. The generosity shown by our paddling community will help support animals in need and make a positive impact locally. We also were joined by the NB Invasive species who offered to hose down each board prior to the paddle helping to protect our waterways and lakes.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered and helped make this year’s Witches & Warlocks Halloween Paddle such a success. We’re already looking forward to seeing what costumes and boat decorations appear next year!
